While the weather was wild and windy last Saturday 14th December, inside UK Shaolin Temple, a hearty gathering of our members learned how to make traditional Chinese dumplings. While it is not the usual choice for the Festive season, the attendees tried their hands at making fresh vegetarian dumplings filled with kow choi, shitake mushrooms, spring onions, and bamboo shoots. Attendees of all ages learned to fill and shape their parcels under the skilled instruction of Candy Lam, a long-time friend and volunteer of UKST. Each batch was cooked fresh and served during the event. True to the norm, everyone became quickly stuffed. But it made a welcomed change not to be stuffed with Christmas Turkey, or sweets!
