The Chinese call it mind intention or Yi and is an important part of our training. Powerfully imagining doing something before you actually do it not only sets the blueprint in your mind to achieve it, but also prepares your nervous system for the physical patterns that will be mobilized by the activity itself.

In order to train ourselves to make positive changes we have to look at the brain and how beliefs are formed, this way we can replicate patterns and establish better and more productive thoughts and actions. Here are four methods that may help to reprogramme your brain. Try them out see if it makes a difference.

TRICK YOUR BRAIN Your brain sometimes cant distinguish between actual events and imagined events therefore imagining that you have completed something or achieved something is almost like tricking the brain into thinking that you have actually done it.

WRITE TO YOUR BRAIN By writing over and over a specific message this might encourage the brain to take the information you write and form a belief from it.

AFFIRMATIONS An affirmation is a statement that is said with confidence about a perceived truth. Affirmations can be a powerful tool to help you to change your mood, state of mind and manifest the change you desire in your life. But they work best if you can first identify the unwholesome belief that is opposing them. This is where practices like meditation or other therapies can help. Repeating positive affirmations to yourself on a daily basis can also train the brain to think and believe these thoughts.

MEDITATION Meditation is a good method to help to calm the mind and discover what is actually occurring in the mind on a daily basis.
