Rising martial arts stars descent on Southampton Shaolin Temple for competition

A CHINESE Martial Arts competition saw talents from all over the UK descend on Hampshire.

The Shaolin Temple in Southampton opened its doors to an inter-club competition on Saturday when almost 40 participants, aged between eight and 60, showed their skills in two different disciplines.

They performed individually in Wushu Taolu, a hand and weapon form which uses spears, swords and even fans, and San Da, a full contact combat sport.

Shi Yan Min, founder of UK Shaolin Temple, who was one of the judges, said: “The event also gives the young and older generation to compete and be involved as a part of a community.
